These three races have moved from Saturday October 19th to Sunday October 20th in response to a schedule change requested by AHRMA. This move also allows us to add an additional practice session on Sunday morning for all CCS groups.
Due to the number of phone calls and emails received over the past few days, we have made some changes to what we expect will happen at V.I.R. this weekend.
Friday night staging will be in the RacePlex area.
The gate will be open 24 hours after 5pm Friday night. NOTE: All Gate Fees must be paid in CASH. (no credit cards or checks, please)
Those new to CCS racing can get a "One-Event" temporary license FREE if you enter at least one AMA RoadRace Grand Championship race. Otherwise a regular CCS license is $60.
REMINDER: AMA Membership is required for all AMA RRGC & USGPRU participants. You must show your membership card to our clerks when you register. (You can also apply for a new membership or renew an existing one at any of our events.)
We're passing along to our racers important information received today from Peter Jones, Marketing Manager of Öhlins USA:
"Öhlins has issued a recall for three part numbers of specific damper brackets for the BMW S1000, and R1200R. As per regulations, and our concerns for quality product, we must make every effort to contact the consumers who have purchased this product. Since it's something that racers would tend to be the prime demographic for, I'm writing to ask if there's some means of communication you can use to reach your many ASR/CCS racers. Thank you for your assistance with this matter of concern. If you need any additional information please contact Gary Christopher or myself.
August 15 - Today we have posted on our Forms page the 2013 R.O.C. Mailer which officially opens Pre-Entry for our most prestigious event of the year.
30th CCS Race of Champions - Daytona International Speedway - October 17-20, 2013
The R.O.C. mailer should answer most questions about what to do beforehand and during the event. It also contains all of the forms needed for pre-entry and reserving garages.
August 5 - We are now taking pre-entries for the AMA Road Race Grand Championships scheduled for Sept. 21-22 at Virginia Int'l Raceway. (Deadline is Sept. 6th @ 5pm Central)
All interested parties should read the Event-Specific Rules & Regulations and the instructions for the Pre-Entry form which concerns Gridding for these races. (Download both from our Forms page)
All participants must have a current AMA Membership. AMA Pro Racers are prohibited from racing the AMA RRGC.
Ninja 250 racers now have an additional class they can enter with CCS!
Introducing the GT Ultralight class, a provisional test class. (This is an "experimental" class - not an official CCS class.) Here are the specifics:
Several errors on the CCS Schedules have been corrected today. Specifically, the USGPRU Finals will take place at Virginia International Raceway Sept. 21-22, not at Blackhawk. In addition the Loudon Classic at New Hampshire in June did not pay Atlantic Region points.
I apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstandings.
Jeanne, CCS Webmistress
The policy for rented transponders has changed due to problems with returns. The new policy can be read on our Timing and Scoring page and is effective immediately.
Absolute Cycle will be hosting a Practice Day on Friday July 19th prior to our race weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Pre-registration is recommended since remaining spots are filling quickly. For more information, see our New Jersey page.
We have just been reminded by Road America that move in after dark is now prohibited.
"A section has been added (Section 2c, item #18) addressing move-in after dark. This is now prohibited due to the lack of lights in the paddock. We do not feel it is safe to be parking rigs in the dark not only for those doing the parking but also for those already in place in the paddock."
Credentials will be available from 7am to 8pm on Friday. No move in after dark. Credentials will be cash only until 5:00pm Friday due to the STT practice day on course that day.
Once ASRA/CCS opens registration 5:00pm Friday, credentials can be paid by cash, check, credit or debit card. ASRA/CCS registration will close at 8:00pm Friday.
As announced in the early mailers, we have a new requirement for ASRA, Team Challenge & USGPRU. All of those competitors must have a current AMA Membership and have their card with them while registering at the track.
Please have your AMA Membership card as well as your CCS license and photo ID ready to show our registration clerks. (Your AMA Pro racing license is not your membership card.)
Hopefully your attention to this matter will ease the delays in the registration lines.
- Thank you from the CCS Staff!
The cost for an AMA Membership is $49, and it can be purchased from registration at the track or directly through AMA by mail or online.
When you arrive at Virginia International Raceway for our June 15-16 event, do not drive all the way to the guard shack.
