May 14, 2009 - Memorial Day weekend is the traditional kick off to Summer and the Championship Cup Series Presented by MotoSport.com has you covered for racing action. There are three big events on the calendar for the holiday weekend, Summit Point Raceway, Heartland Park-Topeka and the new Palm Beach International Raceway, taking advantage of the long weekend to give you your fill of motorcycle road racing.
First up is the two-day event May 23-24 at Heartland Park-Topeka where the Great Plains Series has it's third of seven events. The program features practice all day Saturday and a full slate of racing action on Sunday, leaving you the actual Holiday free to enjoy with your family.
Next is the three day event May 23-25 at Summit Point Raceway where the Michelin Pro Series joins with CCS and the Replicast Challenge. Saturday is practice, getting everyone up to speed for the racing action to come on Sunday and Monday. The Summit Point Cyclefest is sponsored by Harley Davidson of Frederick and is proud to welcome some special guests from Walter Reed Hospital for the Memorial Day festivities. (A big thanks to Steve Levow and his team for arranging the visit from our soldiers.)
Then, in another Memorial Day tradition, it's Sunday/Monday racing at Palm Beach International Raceway on May 24-25. This West Palm Beach celebration of our soldiers and their families is in it's third decade and going strong. The feature race of the CCS Florida Series is the $2000 Unlimited GP Shootout but for this special weekend, the television show 2xtreem has added $500 to the purse making the total offered $2500 with $800 going to the winner!
Wherever you are, whatever you're doing Memorial Day weekend, ASRA, CCS and all their sponsors urge you to give thanks to our military personnel, past and present, for their sacrifices in the name of our freedom.
Thank you all for your service and sacrifice!
