ASRA Team Challenge Round 2
Carolina Motorsports Park
Kershaw, South Carolina
With clear skies and projected high in the low 60's, it was a perfect day to test your team against the re-configured CMP road course and is just what Ivan Milan of the Slovak-Czech Racing Team did.
From the green flag, it was a measured assault on the Team Challenge entrants by the A&J Recognition Solo riders led by Milan. Milan took his Suzuki 1000 from 15th place on the start to the lead by lap 16 by passing the Serpent Racing 2 team with Jason Temme aboard. For the next twelve laps the two teams took turns at the point until Milan went in front for good at lap 29. For the next 40 laps the Milan posting consistent 1:40 to 1:41 times to secure the victory by a full lap over the second place Solo entrant Martin Lazor and the Team Challenge field.
In the ASRA Team Challenge battle, it was good battle at the start for MWT Racing and Serpent Racing 2 for the first few laps until Temme settled in to his race pace and he pulled away from the MWT Suzuki 1000 by about 6 seconds. With MWT falling back, it became a race of pace and strategy for the class leader. Capitalizing on the fastest lap of the race, a 1:39.362 on lap 22, Temme/Martinez/Mascara took charge and never looked back taking the Team Challenge Overall by more than 1-lap over defending National Champion RNR Cycles Repsol on the Kawasaki 600 and 2 laps over their teammates Serpent Racing riding the Ducati 848.
Individual class winners were Serpent Racing 2 in GTO, RNR Repsol in GTU and Chicken Racing taking their first GTL win and top ten overall finishes, Chicken Racing ridden by Eric Wilson and Alex Shaw.
