8.27.07 > Bayley Achieves Shenandoah Circuit's Fastest Lap <

Lloyd Bayley - Photo by Craig (Guzz) Lee, SteelHorse Pictures
Expert Lloyd Bayley is the fastest rider at Summit Point's Shenandoah Circuit! During Sunday's Expert Unlimited Grand Prix race, Bayley clocked an impressive 1:28.606 laptime, beating Robert Wilkey's previous 1:29.3 record set last year. Congratulations Lloyd!

Bayley's success was partly due to the addition of a new rear tire mounted just prior to the UnlGP race, according to the rider. In one of the most exciting races of the weekend, Wilkey and Bayley were battling fiercely for first place until Bayley took a spill. He recovered and continued, passing most of the field trying to catch back up. Wilkey crossed the finish line first to take the Exp Unlimited GP win, while Bayley ended up 4th at the checker.

5.18.07 > MICHELIN CONTINGENCY CLAIM PROCEDURES CHANGE <

MichelinEffective June 1st, riders will no longer be required to complete a separate Michelin paper form every weekend to claim their contingencies. (All riders must register online with Michelin after June 1. Your claims will be filed with Michelin by our office along with other sponsors listed on your CCS/ASRA/TC Contingency Claim forms (completed in Tech).

We are working with other sponsors to reduce the amount of paperwork needed during the Tech process and will announce changes here when accomplished.

4.17.07 > YAMAHA YZF600 R6 AIRBOX ISSUE IN SUPERSPORT <

It has come to my attention that we have a special issue with the air-filter on 2006 and 2007 Yamaha YZF600 R6s. These models have a plastic assembly built into the lower portion of the filter from the factory that restricts the air intake. This plastic assembly is considered part of the airbox when the filter is properly fitted into place and must be intact to pass SuperSport inspection.

2007 Rulebook - 6.1.2.D. Original equipment air box must remain as produced. Air filters must be used but may be Aftermarket units. Aftermarket air filters are restricted to units available via normal commercial channels and designed for that specific model machine. Aftermarket air filter units that replace part of the OEM. airbox are required to maintain the original size and number of air inlet openings as the stock unit.

As of this time, I have been informed the K&N filter does not have that assembly while BMC is making a street/stock replacement and a race version. The race version is not SuperSport legal while the street/stock version must have the plastic assembly installed to be legal which is a removable piece.

If anyone finds information to contradict or expound on this information, please forward the findings to me so that we can get the word out to the other inspectors. We are attempting to have a mold made that will be similar to the 1st generation SV650 air filter go - no go gauge.

BILL RITGER
(8/3/1953 - 1/10/2007)

We regret to announce the passing of William Ritger, 53, of Watertown WI on Wednesday January 10, 2007 after a battle with cancer.

Bill Ritger wore many hats for CCS over the two decades of service, best known as ASRA/CCS Race Control, he was the current ASRA/CCS Safety Director as well as one of the founding members of the Mid-West Safety Crew. His total focus was the sport of motorcycling, whether it was riding his own bike with his wife Claudia at his side from Wisconsin to VIR to work corners for the racers, or pushing for increased safety for all ASRA/CCS riders. Bill always made it clear what his priorities were, Claudia, motorcycling and a good beer. Now that was a man you could respect.

The Mid-West Safety Crew is developing fund raising events to help the family defray the medical costs involved with his battle, more information will be posted as it becomes available.

We in his ASRA/CCS family, as well as the motorcycling family as a whole, will miss Bill. Our prayers go out to Claudia and their family.

Godspeed Bill Ritger, I will miss you my friend but I will never forget you.

Kevin Elliott
Director of Operations CCS/ASRA

P.S. We have learned the following from emails and the CCS Fan Forum:

The memorial service will be on Jan 20th. Visitation 10:30 - 11:30, service at 11:30am. Location: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 413 S 2nd ST, Watertown, WI 53904

Claudia has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bill's name to either the Red Flag Fund or the Rainbow Hospice, which has been providing Bill excellent care over the past couple of weeks.

Also, a "Bill & Claudia Ritger Benefit" fund has been organized to help Claudia with their substantial medical expenses. To contribute, send your money to Dawn Buxton via PayPal at buxton@frontiernet.net or you may send a check made payable and sent to:
